Wie enjoying college and practicing hard

26 December, 2007

In a golf channel interview, Michelle has discussed her time at Stanford so far. "It’s great. I mean I love Stanford, it was everything that I thought of and more", she continued "It’s sad that the quarter was that fast, so next quarter I’m really excited about it and taking some cool classes and it’s a lot of fun but a lot of hard work as well".

She also discussed hanging out at the dorm and making new friends "So it was a lot of fun just hanging out and making a lot of new friends and I felt like we bonded pretty closely at the dorm and just the whole freshman class you know it was just a lot of fun and lots of things to do".

She also spoke about herself gaining maturity and taking responsponsibility "I’m taking a lot more responsibility and my schedule and workouts and practice. I feel like I’m growing up a little bit -- being more responsible about how I’m going to practice and how to balance anything and just focusing on time management. I’ve learned how to study very quickly and practice very efficiently and it’s a fun time to be social, so it’s a really big balancing act".

On her disappointments in the 2007 season, she said, "2007 was an interesting year. I try to forget it, because there was nothing I can do to stop it because it was kind of part of my young self where I felt like at any moment it can turn around and if I can grind through it I can do it. But looking back at it now, there was no way I could have played well. I mean, I broke three bones in my wrist and trying to play out there, trying to be competitive on tour is just not gonna happen."

She said she was taking a new attitude in 2008, "to make a lot more smart decisions", "and look at myself and say if I’m ready to play and don’t play until I’m ready".

No Mens Events in 2008 for Wie

20 December, 2007

According to reports in the Daily Telegraph, David Leadbetter has said that Michelle Wie will not play mens events in 2008. She will instead focus on women's events. Since a non-member on the lpga tour can only receive a maximum of 6 sponsors exemptions, we assume that Michelle will be taking exemptions on other women's tours. These may be tours such as The Korea Ladies Tour, Japanese lpga tour, Ladies European Tour or the Futures Tour.

If there are any announcements of her next golf events, we will post that news here.
