Wie to Play Safeway International

Michelle Wie has been offered and has accepted a sponsors exemption to play the Safeway International, an lpga tour event, which runs from the 27th to 30th of March. It will be her 2nd event of the 2008 season, having already played in Hawaii at the Fields Open.
"We are thrilled that Michelle will be participating at the Safeway International," said Tom Maletis, president of Tournament Golf Foundation. "Michelle played at the tournament as an amateur, but was unable to join us last year due to injury. We are happy to see she is back and excited to provide the opportunity for her to showcase her talents and compete in Arizona."
This event is held the week after Michelle Wie has her Stanford Winter Quarter exams.

It has been reported that Michelle Wie will not have her father BJ on her bag at the Fields Open tournament. Instead, she is to have one of David Leadbetter's staff.

This website has launched a new tournament section. The 2008 Fields Open is the first tournament that will feature in that section.
It will include details like pairings, interviews, and news on the tournament itself. There is also a look back on the 2006 Fields Open, where Michelle Wie finished one shot out of a playoff.
