2005 - 15 years old

- Michelle Wie opened her 2005 campaign with her 2nd appearance at the pga tour’s Sony Open. In windy conditions she didn’t threaten the cutline, finishing with rounds of 75 and 74.

- She played 8 lpga events in 2005:
- SBS Open, her best lpga finish to that point, she came in 2nd place, 2 shots off the winner, Jeniffer Rosales. Wie started the round 4 shots behind and closed to two shots, but had to settle for 2nd place.
- Safeway International, yet another solid performance 12th place.
- Kraft Nabisco, again more solid play with a 14th place.
- Lpga Championship, Michelle produced an outstanding performance to take 2nd place in this major tournament, beating everyone in the field by at least 2 strokes, apart from winner Annika Sorenstam.
- US Women’s Open, 23rd place for Michelle would prove to be her worst lpga finish of the season, which puts into perspective how well she played.
- Evian Masters, 2nd place, albeit a distant 2nd place to runaway winner Paula Creamer.
- Women’s British Open. After opening with a disappointing 75 in the first round, she shot 3 rounds of 67, 67, 69 to move right up the field to take 3rd place.
- Samsung World Championship, Michelle shot her best lpga round up to that point of 65 in the 2nd round. She eventually finished 4th in the tournament, but then a reporter reported an infraction of the rules that he thought he witnessed in the 3rd round. This lead to Wie’s disqualification from the event. If the reporter had reported the infraction when it happened or before she signed her scorecard she would have just received a 2 shot penalty.

Other Mens Events:
- Wie played the John Deere Classic in July, and produced rounds of 70 and 71 to finish the tournament under par, but missed the cut by 2 strokes.
- She also played the Casio World Open on the Japanese Tour in November and missed the cut by just 1 stroke.
